I grew up in South Africa and was educated at Pretoria Boy's High School. My early working life was spent in Indoor Cricket centres in Johannesburg before moving over to the UK. I began my coaching journey whilst playing in the Birmingham League before moving to Sussex in 1999 where I joined Hastings & St Leonard's Priory CC. Working with the young cricketers was so enjoyable and I fell in love with coaching and knew it was what I wanted to do.

I delivered programmes to the Sussex County Boys Squads as well as coaching at a variety of clubs and state schools. I also worked at Bede's across both the Senior and Prep School where I was Assistant Director of Cricket. I completed the ECB Level 3 coaching qualification in 2008 and then through frustration of lack of quality and accessible cricket facilities started Skillz Cricket Academy in 2010 and built a cricket centre at Chilley Farm in East Sussex to deliver bespoke coaching sessions. I have delivered over 25 000 hours of One2One coaching to boys and girls using innovative practice in a fun and challenging environment.

I also coached the England Indoor Cricket Men's side at the 2007 World Cup in Bristol, which included a famous victory over an almost unbeatable Australian side. In 2016 I joined a small village club in West Sussex as their first ever club coach and can proudly look back over the past ten years as the club has grown beyond recognition. West Chiltington & Thakeham CC has flourished with many youngsters in that 2016 1st XI now representing the club in the Sussex Premier League. In 2025 I decided to focus on my One2One coaching again and it was an easy decision to use Square One as my base.

The road that has led me to Square One has been paved over the past 15 years working closely with Dr. James Wallis who is the Principal Lecturer, School of Education, Sport and Health at Brighton University. I have been a visiting lecturer on the Sport Coaching Degree and contributed to the publication Sport Coaching with Diverse Populations.

As a player I represented the Sussex 2nd XI and Board XI which played in the ECB Minor Counties Competition and also represented South Africa at Indoor Cricket playing in three World Cups. My fondest memories include winning the Sussex Premier League, representing the MCC at Lord’s and playing for the Duke of Norfolk XI at the stunning Arundel Castle. My proudest moment was winning the Div 4 Sussex League title in 2017 for West Chiltington & Thakeham CC in memory of Tim Monday who sadly passed away during a match that season. Having recently "matured", I have rekindled many old friendships and rivalries by representing the Sussex over 50 1st XI.
